Haiku is a traditional Japanese form of poetry that aims to convey a rich sensory experience related to nature through short, sharp verses and devices. It was introduced into the West in the early 20th century and has been very popular since. In this taster session, led by our Japanese instructor, a native Japanese speaker and haiku poet, you will learn the basics of writing haiku poetry, as well as gain an understanding of its cultural background. This class is in English. Students do not need to know Japanese to attend.
